What are the New England 4,000 Footers?

The New England 4,000 Footers are the 67 peaks on the Appalachian Mountain Club's list of mountains in the region at least 4,000 feet high. To qualify, a peak must also rise at least 200 feet above the ridge connecting it to a higher neighbor. The list includes the 48 in New Hampshire's White Mountains, 14 in Maine and 5 in Vermont. Mount Washington is the highest at 6,288 feet. The AMC Four Thousand Footer Club recognizes hikers who complete the list. Recent lidar surveys suggest some elevations are slightly off, including New Hampshire's Mount Tecumseh, which may fall just under 4,000 feet.
